Sacred Nine Project: I Shall Be Left
Formerly known as ‘My Heavens,’ and ‘Rapture’
Sunday, 30, 3:00 PM, Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church

From the Rapture, to a general pining away for heaven, Americans, particularly Evangelicals, are obsessed! We will celebrate (and poke musical fun at) this mindset, as well as offer foils for it. The music will include arrangements of old gospel hymns, settings of Dickinson and Whitman, transcriptions of early American tunesmiths like William Billings, and a very progressive piece that places a positive spin on being “left behind.” The closer will be a no-holds-barred arrangement of “The Holy City” that deliciously tests the bounds of good taste!

Will you attend this concert on March 30, 2025, 3:00 PM?
If you were raised in an Evangelical Christian Church, particularly the hellfire and brimstone kind, then there were some particular phrases the preacher always used at the beginning of every altar call, or "invitation." Please list as many phrases as you can remember, in no particular order, separated by commas. (Don't leave out the scary ones!)
Can you share the town(s) and state(s) where you experienced/experience these kinds of altar calls or invitations?

Thank you!
